Challenge
This multi-building campus was constructed to produce a high number of military vehicles. The production process included around-the-clock heavy industrial welding. Welding produces heavy fumes, and the facility needed a cost-effective solution to collect and exhaust fumes from the building while drawing in and heating outside air.
Solution
Throughout the production areas, Perfection installed electronic smoke sensors that measure particulates in the air. Using this information, Perfection adjusted the speed of multiple roof-mounted exhaust fans and make-up air units. A control system was installed to monitor these systems for peak efficiency.
Results
The new HVAC system provides energy savings for the facility because the variable-speed system does not run at maximum capacity during the entire production cycle. The system will pay for itself in one to two years.
